The Kenosha County Highway Department is holding a public information meeting on the planned partial resurfacing of Highways E (12th Street) and Y (22nd Avenue).

The meeting will be held Thursday Nov. 16, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Somers Village/Town Hall, 7511 12th Street. A brief presentation will take place from 5:15 to 5:30 p.m. Representative from the County will be on hand to answer residents’ questions.

The project proposes to resurface approximately 1.4 miles of Highway E between Highway G (30th Avenue) and Highway 32 (Sheridan Road), as well as approximately 0.45 miles of Highway Y between 14th Place and Highway E.

The purpose of the project is to address deteriorating pavement conditions, decreased ride quality, deteriorating culverts and beam guards. Curbs will be replaced where needed.

Roads will be open to through traffic during the majority of the project. Short-term closures may be required for culvert work. The work is estimated to take place in 2024.

Additional information about the project is available on the Kenosha County website at this link.
