Once again the tradition is carried forward with the assembly and delivery of gift bags to veterans who reside at Brookside, The Bay, and Manor Care nursing homes.  Julius Mianecki, former Quarter Master of the Somers VFW Post #2751, gathered helpers and goodies in the Leon Dreger Auditorium in the Somers Village/Town Hall on Saturday, December 16, 2017.

Although Post #2751 has disbanded and merged with the Pleasant Prairie VFW Post, Mianecki continues this important holiday delivery of Christmas gift bags to the veterans.  “The veterans who live in nursing homes very much appreciate the gifts.  Some of them have no family.  They look forward to these gift bags and we want them to know they are not forgotten”, said Mianecki.

Items donated by the Langel family, Mianecki family, John Lee, and Platinum Auto Body in Volo, Illinois included toothpaste, tissue, denture cleaning tablets, deodorant, shampoo, tooth brush and holder, game books, pens, and holiday candy.
