The garbage and recycling contract between the Town of Somers and Waste Management expires December 31, 2014.  The Town accepted proposals for this service and awarded the low bid to Advanced Disposal, Inc.  This new contract, which expires December 31, 2019, provides a substantial savings to Somers residents due to a reduced cost of service.  Residents will receive a post card mailing from Advanced Disposal requesting residents to select the size of their containers and return their response by December 1, 2014.  Carts are provided at no charge to the resident or Town of Somers prior to December 1, 2014.  Responses received after December 1, 2014 may result in a charge to the resident for carts.

Important Change: Carts

Garbage and recycling collection has switched to a fully-automated collection for both trash and recycling.  This means that a garbage truck will pull up to the curb in front of your residence and by use of a mechanical arm system, pick up, dump, and return your cart(s) to the curb.

Carts Will Be Delivered During The Last Week in December, 2014

Two 96-gallon carts will be delivered to all eligible households:  one cart is for garbage and one is for recycling.  These carts are provided at no cost to Somers residents.  96-gallon carts will be delivered unless residents selected the smaller 64-gallon carts by notifying Advanced Disposal by December 1, 2014.
