The Southeastern Wisconsin Housing Summit, hosted by Racine County and WHEDA, was held September 12, 2018 at the Delta Hotels by Marriott in Racine, Wisconsin.  The event, attended by over 250 people, connected municipalities, developers, financial institutions, realtors, contractors, and other housing partners.  The purpose was to share information and discuss solutions to provide adequate housing options in southeastern Wisconsin.  It is estimated that 10,000 new housing units will be needed to accommodate new workers in the region because of Foxconn.

Attending the event from the Village of Somers were George Stoner, President; Dave Geertsen, Karl Ostby, Gregg Sinnen and Jackie Nelson, Trustees; Bill Morris, Administrator; and Jason Peters, Assistant Administrator.  Between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM, Somers, as well as other municipalities, hosted a table where land use and zoning maps, Somers demographics, contacts, TIF districts, and other information were made available in hard copy or a CD.  Developers who expressed an interest in several Somers locations exchanged business cards with Somers officials.

Presentation tables were assembled in a room where Racine and Kenosha municipalities were available to meet and share information with those who attended the summit.
