With the end of daylight saving time, the Somers Fire Department reminds residents to change their fire detectors’ batteries.

Homes should have a smoke detector on each level and in all bedrooms.

Maintain your detectors to make sure they work when you need them by clearing any dust from the vents once a month, replacing the batteries once a year (unless it is a 10-year lithium battery) and test them once a month.

Don’t have a smoke detector?

The fire department will install one free of charge. Call 262-620-3285 to make an appointment. More information is available here.
