Project Description

The County of Kenosha is beginning its pavement preservation project in the Village and Town of Somers starting Wednesday, May 20th according to Gary A. Sipsma, Director of Highway/Highway Commissioner for Kenosha County.  The project involves overlay of new asphalt, new pavement re-striping, railroad crossing marking, and crushed limestone shouldering.  The project extends from I-94 east to Highway EA at Somers Elementary School.

New Highway E Turn Lanes for Somers Elementary School

A turn lane will be added on the eastbound lane of Highway E on the north side of the school to accommodate parents who drop-off and pick-up their children.  In addition, a passing lane will be added on the westbound lane of Highway E on the north side of the school, allowing motorists to travel directly through the area without waiting for traffic that turns into the schoolyard.  Both road improvements will eliminate vehicle back-ups during morning and afternoon school activity.

Highway E Will Remain Open During Construction

Flag people will assist in traffic flow control.  There may be brief delays.  We appreciate your patience.
