The Board of Supervisors of the Town of Somers is pleased to announce that Gerald Smith has been named Public Works Superintendent.  Jerry will lead the Public Works Department in its efforts to address the current and future utility and road needs of the community.  He replaces George Stoner who retired effective December 31, 2014 after serving as Superintendent for many years.  After retirement, Mr. Stoner was elected Town of Somers Supervisor in the spring of 2014.

Before joining the Town of Somers, Jerry worked on road construction projects with his father’s company in addition to various other positions in operations and plant management.  He has extensive experience in management, operations, supervision and organizational management.  Adding his construction background and familiarity in roads and utilities, Jerry’s experience provides the necessary leadership that will help Somers address the increase in development activity and current infrastructure needs.

Jerry graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with a double degree in Industrial Engineering and Business Administration in addition to earning a MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management in Milwaukee.  He was born and raised in Mauston, Wisconsin and has lived in Racine, Wisconsin for the past twenty-five years with his wife, Ellie.  Together they are the parents of three children and grandparents of five.

Jerry can be reached at the Somers Town Hall at 262-859-2822 or [email protected].
