On Nov. 20 from 9 a.m. to noon, the Somers Fire & Rescue Department is offering to install a free smoke detector for Somers residents. To take advantage of this offer, please call 262-620-3285 or email [email protected] to make an appointment.

For more information, check out this press release.

If you house already has a smoke detector, remember that with the end of daylight saving time, you should change the batteries.

Fire departments recommend a smoke detector on each level and in all bedrooms. They should be maintained to make sure they work when you need them by clearing any dust from the vents once a month, replacing the batteries once a year (unless it is a 10-year lithium battery) and test them once a month.
