The Village and Town of Somers, population 9,569, Kenosha County, Wisconsin, seeks to fill its current vacancy of Fire Chief.

 

This is a management position responsible for overseeing the daily operations of both the Village and Town’s combined Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services.  In addition to daily operations this position oversees the department’s recruitment and staffing requirements reporting to the Village and Town’s Fire Commission, the Village and Town Boards and Village/Town Administrator.

 

Additional duties include developing department budgets, policies and standard operating guidelines, ensuring compliance with applicable local, state and federal policies and regulations. The Chief also represents the Village & Town in community relations and public safety awareness events, programs for local schools, churches, civic groups and the business community.

Minimum requirements include an Associate Degree in Fire Services Management or related field, Firefighter II & Advanced EMT or Paramedic certification plus three to five years command or supervisory experience providing local fire and emergency medical services, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. Preferred candidates will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science, Public Administration, Business Management or related field. This position will include a 6-month probationary period. Salary $77,000 plus benefit package.
