General Information

The Village and Town of Somers welcome all children, from kindergarten to high school, to participate in Somers Co-Ed Youth Softball Program.  Residency is not a requirement to participate.

 

All games are played at Somers Memorial Park which is located behind the Somers Village/Town Hall on Highway E. Bleacher style seating is available as well as grassy areas if you prefer to bring your lawn chair.  Refreshments and snacks are available for purchase from a mobile vendor located near the ball diamond.  A standard Porta-Potti is also available near the ball diamond.  There is ample free parking in the Village/Town Hall parking lot.

T-Ball (Pre - Kindergarten) - Thursday night

A-Ball (1st/2nd Grade) - Wednesday night

AA-ball (3rd/4th Grade) - Tuesday night

Minor (5th/6th Grade) - Tuesday night

Major (7th/8th/9th Grade) - Wednesday night

High School* (10th/11th/12th Grade) - Thursday night
*cannot turn 18 before August 31st)

 

Fees are payable to the Village of Somers

$45.00 - Residents (as of 2017)
$55.00 - Non-Residents (as of 2017)

 

 

Kevin Griffin, Director


This will be Kevin's fourth season overseeing the Somers youth co-ed recreation programs. As a result of Somers expanding their youth recreational programs in 2016, Kevin was hired to serve as Director for all of Somers youth recreational programs.  We are very fortunate to have Kevin as our Director.  His experience is extensive and we receive many compliments from parents about the success of our programs.

 

A little about Kevin...
Kevin has been involved in youth sports management (coaching, officiating and administration) for over 20 years.  

  • Played city softball for over 20 years
  • 1991 was city softball tournament MVP
  • Championship softball teams in 1992, 1997, 2005
  • 1992, 1997, 2005 Rotary tournament
  • 1991, 1997, 2001 and 2002 city tournaments
  • Member of the RLOA (Racine Lakeshore Officials Association), and officiates high school basketball.
  • Last 8 years served as Midwest Commissioner for small fry basketball and helped oversee the Kenosha small fry basketball franchise.
  • Past member of the Tremper Booster Club and Trojan Touchdown Club
  • Basketball official for 25 years
