Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

Foxconn, a Taiwanese technology company, announced they intend to build a $10 billion manufacturing campus in the County of Racine, Village of Mt. Pleasant, Wisconsin.  The proposed campus location borders from I-94 west expanding east to Highway H.  The north boundary is Highway 11 and the south boundary will be the Racine/Kenosha County Line Road (Highway KR), the Village of Somers north border.  Somers residents, especially those who own property near the new development, may have an interest in attending public information sessions to learn more about what will occur in their neighborhood.

The public meetings will be held in an open house format.  The dates are as follows:

  • Session I – Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at the Mt. Pleasant Village Hall.
  • Session II – Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Memorial Hall, City of Racine
  • Session III – Tuesday, October 24, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Veterans Terrace in Burlington

The developer, Foxconn, is expected to complete the development in a six-year timeframe according to a report by Ehlers dated October 4, 2017, "Project Plan for Create of TID No. 5 for Mt. Pleasant, Wisconsin".  Foxconn is the world’s largest electronics manufacturing services provider.  They make liquid crystal display screens for Apple products and they plan to manufacture larger LCD screens for devices from aircraft systems, self-driving cars, televisions, and other products at the Mt. Pleasant, Wisconsin location.  It is projected the size of the campus will be 20 million square feet, the largest in the State of Wisconsin.
